Summer Funding

The Union says that rather than receive their wages and funding money primarily in the fall and winter, its PhD members want the University to hold back some of that money and pay it to them in the summer. The University’s offer provides that option to employees whose Minimum Guarantee comes to them in the form of the York Fellowship.

How much more summer funding will members receive by selecting this option? Members who choose this option will receive a total of $7,268 in summer funding (combination of the Minimum Guarantee and Direct TA Financial Assistance), which is $3,589 more than under the current arrangement of 3 equal installments of the Minimum Guarantee in the Fall, Winter and Summer Terms when in the form of the York Fellowship. We believe that this directly responds to the concerns presented by the Union and provides real benefit to members who prefer more funding in the summer.
